For today’s episode, Qiqi and I talk about BI-UConn Summer Academy, an initiative we started 3 years ago to help students understand and learn the world of clinical development better and bring them networking opportunities. This hybrid academy is open to both UCOnn students and students outside of UConn. It’s sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim.

Dooti Roy, PhD

Dooti is a global product owner and a principal methodology statistician who enjoys developing/deploying innovative clinical research and statistical visualization tools with expertise in creating dynamic cross-functional collaborations to efficiently solve complex problems. She is currently focused on research and methodological applications of Bayesian statistics, artificial intelligence and machine learning on clinical efficacy analyses, patient adherence, and dose-finding. She is passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion, mentoring, cross-cultural collaborations, and competent leadership development. She unwinds with painting, reading, traveling and heavy metal.

Dr. Qiqi Deng

Dr. Qiqi is a Director in Clinical Biostatistics at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceutical. She is currently a member of the Methodology Expert team within global statistics, which focuses on statistical methodology innovation. Her research area covers a wide range of topics about modern clinical trials, especially the methodological and pragmatic considerations in dose-finding studies, and adaptive designs. Before she joined the methodology group, she has served as leading statistician for multiple projects, across different clinical development phases and therapeutic areas. Dr. Deng received her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Peking University in China, and obtained her Ph. D. in Statistics from University of Minnesota.
